What your floor install actually includes
When we install floors, the work starts before a single plank goes down. We pull up the old flooring, haul it out, and check the slab underneath. In South Florida that slab matters. Concrete that holds moisture will ruin laminate and engineered wood from below, so we test it, grind down high spots, fill low ones, and put down the right moisture barrier or underlayment for the product you picked.
From there we handle the parts most homeowners dread. We undercut door jambs so planks slide cleanly underneath, set proper expansion gaps at every wall, and install transitions, thresholds, and baseboard or quarter round to finish the edges. We move furniture, protect the rest of the house from dust, and clean up when we leave. Most rooms run 1 to 3 days depending on square footage and how flat the slab starts out.
How we get a flat, lasting floor on Florida slabs
Failed floors here almost always trace back to two things: a slab that was never flat and moisture nobody checked for. A 1/8 inch dip over six feet does not look like much, but it turns into hollow spots, clicking planks, and cracked tile grout within a year. We flatten the substrate to the manufacturer spec for whatever you are installing, because that spec is also what keeps the warranty valid.
We are owner-operated with no subcontracted crews, so the same people who measured your home are the ones laying the floor. That matters for layout decisions made on the spot, like which direction to run the planks and where to land the cuts. The crew also installs hurricane-impact windows across Broward, Miami-Dade, and Palm Beach, so if you are remodeling, we can sequence floors and window work together and pull the permits for both.
